Dealing With teenagers
List all Experiences:
I have rather fond memories of my teenaged lovelorn years. Luckily I had enough support to keep me going when pitfalls came my way; and I’m sure that when it comes to dealing with the heartaches of my young ones, I’ll be there when they need me.
This is one of the most important aspects of parenting when it comes to dealing with teenaged children who think they’re in love. Instead of you being on their backs all the time demanding you know every aspect of their relationship, simply let them know that you’re there if they need someone to talk to.
Also, never insist that they’re not in love, but that it’s simply a passing phase. While that might actually be the case, nobody who thinks he/she is in love would like to be told otherwise. Instead tell them that you trust him/her to make the right decisions.
Also remember that dealing with a broken heart during one’s formative easier can be quite difficult, and this is a phase when your child should have your unconditional support.
